Privacy Policy

Elara is developed and operated by Stefan Petrovic ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Elara app or visit elaralife.app.

By using Elara, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Elara.

Your life data is deeply personal. Elara was designed to minimize unnecessary data collection and give you full control over what is stored, synced, and analyzed. Your calendar and personal data are never sold to advertisers — not now, not ever.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Name — entered during onboarding. Stored locally on your device and optionally in iCloud if you enable sync.
• Email address — only if you sign up for the pre-launch waitlist on our website. We do not collect your email through the app itself.
• Calendar and life data — events, categories, tracking items, financial commitments, and other personal data you enter into Elara. This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.

Information collected automatically:

• Usage analytics — we use Mixpanel to collect anonymised usage data such as which features you use and how you interact with the app. This helps us improve Elara. No personally identifiable information is included in analytics events.
• Crash reports — we use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports when the app encounters an error. This includes device model, OS version, app version, and crash stack traces. No personally identifiable information is included.
• Purchase data — if you subscribe to Elara Premium, RevenueCat processes and stores your subscription and purchase information. We do not have direct access to your payment details.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the Elara app and its features
• To notify you about the app launch or important updates (waitlist email only)
• To process and manage Premium subscriptions via RevenueCat
• To understand how users interact with Elara and improve the experience

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

3. Data Storage

All calendar and personal life data you enter into Elara is stored locally on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers.

If you enable iCloud Sync (available with Elara Premium), your data is synced through Apple's iCloud infrastructure under Apple's privacy policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

Your name entered during onboarding is stored in SwiftData on your device and, if iCloud Sync is enabled, in your personal iCloud container.

4. Third-Party Services

• Mixpanel — analytics platform used to collect anonymised usage events. Mixpanel Privacy Policy
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — crash reporting service used to collect crash data to improve app stability. Google Privacy Policy
• RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
• Apple iCloud — optional data sync for Premium users. Apple Privacy Policy
• Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — email marketing platform used to manage the pre-launch waitlist. Kit Privacy Policy
• Lottie — animation library used in the app. Lottie does not collect any user data.

5. AI Features and On-Device Intelligence

Elara includes AI-powered features such as Smart Summary and Find Free Time. These features are built using Apple Intelligence, which means all processing happens entirely on your device. Your personal calendar data never leaves your device to power these features.

Specifically:

• Smart Summary — generates a natural language overview of your upcoming events and life data using on-device Apple Intelligence. No data is sent to external AI providers.
• Find Free Time — analyzes your local calendar data on-device to surface available time blocks. No external processing occurs.

We do not use OpenAI, Google, or any third-party cloud AI provider to process your personal data. All AI features operate locally on your device and require a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled device.

This is a deliberate design decision. Your life data stays yours.

6. Data Retention

Your local app data is retained on your device until you delete the app or clear app data. If iCloud Sync is enabled, data is retained in iCloud according to Apple's policies.

Waitlist email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

Analytics data collected via Mixpanel is retained in accordance with Mixpanel's data retention policies. Crash report data collected via Firebase Crashlytics is retained in accordance with Google's data retention policies.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your personal data
• Unsubscribe from our waitlist at any time
• Request that we stop processing your data
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

8. Children's Privacy

Elara is not intended for children under the age of 13, or under 16 in regions where a higher age threshold applies (including the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at support@elaralife.app and we will promptly delete any such data.

9. Data Deletion

You can delete your Elara data at any time:

• App data — delete the Elara app from your device. All locally stored SwiftData is removed immediately.
• iCloud data — if iCloud Sync is enabled, go to iPhone Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Elara → Delete Data.
• Waitlist email — click the unsubscribe link in any email from us, or contact support@elaralife.app to be removed immediately.
• Account and all associated data — contact us at support@elaralife.app with the subject "Data Deletion Request." We will process your request within 30 days.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
